Josh Devins, Software Architect, Nokia

 Josh  Devins Josh is a Software Architect working in Nokia's Location services unit. As a group they are responsible for location-based services such as Ovi Maps on the web and device. Prior to Nokia and moving to Berlin in 2008, he worked primarily as a Java developer and Jira monkey at a number of internet companies ranging from ecommerce startups to online gambling (and no, the games are not rigged). He has been working in industry since he had a connection to the interwebs and holds a BSc in Computer Science from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, Canada.

Abstract: Nokia phones are used by billions of people all over the planet. Since the launch of Ovi in 2007, Nokia has been an internet business. Architects from Nokia Location in Berlin will describe how an agile team prepares for planetary-scale provision of internet services. Our services connect people and places - we'll give an insight into the special problems that geo technology and ever-growing spatial datasets present.
