Presentation: "Groovy and Grails In Depth"

Time: Thursday 14:15 - 15:15

Location: Westminster Suite

Abstract:

Over the past year the Groovy language and the Grails web framework have surged in popularity. Consistently the dynamic language of choice for Java developers, Groovy has seen a number of important milestones including the release of Groovy 1.6.

The Grails web framework continues to be a shining example of what can be achieved using Groovy's ability to define Domain Specific Languages (DSLs). By providing a higher level abstraction over the Java EE platform, Grails provides the productivity of other popular dynamic language platforms like Ruby on Rails and Django, but designed specifically for the Java platform.

In this session, the project lead of Grails, Graeme Rocher, will take you through a short introduction to Groovy and Grails followed by a code-driven walkthrough of building a real Grails application. Grails is specifically designed to make the life of the Java EE developer easier and this session will show you how you can take advantage of Grails to boost productivity on the Java platform.
