Abstract:

It's become almost mainstream to criticize the classic, big-vendor SOA approach. People praise the advantages of JSON over XML, RESTful HTTP over SOAP, WSDL and WS-*, and the use of open source commodity tools over commercial middleware. What's an architect, tasked with deciding what's best for a company, supposed to do? In this session, we'll take a look at the useful core concepts of SOA, the technologies available today, and try to derive a set of useful guidelines for applying them to enterprise IT.

Keywords: SOA, REST, WS-*, Architecture, Lighweight SOA

Target Audience: Developers and architects building service-oriented solutions and/or integrating systems
