Presentation: "Mobile app privacy: you're doing it wrong (and so am I)"

The smartphone explosion of the last few years has seen internet availability become even more ubiquitous in the West. Social networkers no longer need to get back to their desktops to update their streams - they can even publish their whereabouts in real time to anyone who cares to read it. While the use cases and associated risks have evolved rapidly, the reaction from software companies and service providers has not: "we refer you to our privacy policy". In this session, Graham Lee will examine the problem at the level of the users' experience and mental models. He will present some new - and some not-so-new, but seldom adopted - user interface techniques for privacy in mobile applications.
