Training: "World Premier - Coding Against MongoDB with the New Java Driver"

Track: Training / Time: Tuesday 09:00 - 12:00 / Location: Abbey Room

This year is an exciting year for Java developers - not only is Java 8 coming out, but a shiny new Java driver for MongoDB is also on the horizon.

The Java interface to MongoDB (the leading NoSQL database) is one of the more... mature... drivers. Now, after several years of use in organisations - from hipster start-ups to long-in-the-tooth enterprises - is the right time to bring out version 3.0, which utilises more modern development patterns and draws on users' experiences.

In this tutorial, you will learn:

  • What the major design features are for the new Java driver for MongoDB
  • How to use it
  • ...and maybe pick up some MongoDB basics as you go along

Since this is a World Premier of the brand new driver (it's not even in release candidate stage yet), this is a great opportunity to get a heads-up on new technology that is not yet available, and possibly contribute to its design. If you're lucky, you might even find a bug or two.

This is a hands-on session for Java developers, and should be suitable whether you're new to MongoDB or an experienced hand.
