Breakfast with a Climatologist – Wednesday, 7:15 to 8:20

  • Location: Windsor, 5th flr

Join Dr. Jason Box, a leading climatologist who been studying the Greenland Ice sheet for more than 20 years, for a special breakfast at QCon London.

Jason has gone on record saying that humanity has likely already set in motion 21 metres of sea level rise as a result of burning fossil fuels. He was the first to predict the collapse of the Petermann Ice Shelf in Greenland, which was the size of Manhattan. He has contributed to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) fourth and fifth assessment and has been called the “Ice Maverick” by Rolling Stone magazine.

During this interactive breakfast event, Jason will share his latest observations on climate change and what he believes we can do to mitigate our carbon footprint. Attendees will have the opportunity for a Q&A to explore themes covered by Jason in more detail.Seating is on a first-come first-serve basis.

Jason is one of the scientists leading a charity organisation, GreenlandTrees.org, urgently working to reduce atmospheric CO2 by planting trees in southern Greenland where trees already thrive.
