Trackhost: James Cox, smokeclouds![]() James Cox has been developing and interacting with the web for the last six years, building apps small and big. Having worked on projects as diverse as editorially driven content management through e-commerce, he has a wide range of scenarios to draw from. Having not only developed small projects, James has experience managing high scalability situations too. Starting with PHP's website, php.net, he spent many years managing the various services within the infrastructure team, learning the tricks of the trade and experimenting with new techniques. Since, then James has solved the scalability and uptime issues of a major Mid-East online news source, a massively popular webzine serving over 10 million hits a day, and has helped twitter get started working on their problems. Within the community James has worked on testing new availability scenarios with other leading scalability evangelists and continues to research new ways to attain high performance webapps. David Chelimsky, Articulated Man, Inc![]() David Chelimsky is the lead developer of RSpec and a leader in the discussion of Behaviour Driven Development in the Ruby space. Through April of 2007, David worked as a consultant with Object Mentor, Inc, teaching courses and providing one on one mentoring in OO Design, Test Driven Development and Refactoring. David now develops dynamic (in function and language!) web applications at Articulated Man, Inc, a Chicago-based web design and application consultancy. Chief Scientist Aslak Hellesøy, BEKK Consulting![]() I'm the Chief Scientist of BEKK Consulting in Norway. Before that I worked for ThoughtWorks. I am one of the main developers of RSpec and I founded the Portland Maine Ruby User Group. Dr. Nic Williams![]() Dr Nic Williams is known for his exciting blend of software development, entertaining education, and thorough training. He picked up Ruby on Rails in 2005, he has released successful websites, such as MyConfPlan, and a growing collection of open source projects that are used throughout the Ruby on Rails community - New Gem Generator, Composite Primary Keys, and his quirkily famous "Magic Models", plus more. For the last two years, Dr Nic has lived and worked in India, Sweden, Netherlands and Australia; and has worked for telcos and for several startup web companies. |
