John O'Hara, AMQP Working Group

 John O'Hara

John O'Hara is a Senior Architect at JPMorgan and one of the bank's designated Distinguished Engineers. He has over 15 years of commercial computing experience and has successfully delivered many large scale projects at the bank across equities, F&O, prime brokerage, rates and fixed income businesses.

John originated the Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP) standard after experiencing too many impractical and overly complex middleware stacks. John holds the Chair of the AMQP Working Group which collectively owns the protocol.

John became interested in computing at an early age, beginning with an early VIC-20 microcomputer with just 5KB of RAM. He graduated from formal studies with a BSc Honours degree in Computer Science and Electronic Engineering from Aston University.
