Presentation: "Windows Presentation Foundation: Not Just a Pretty Face"

Track:   .Net Enterprise Development

Time: Wednesday 14:30 - 15:30

Location: St James's Suite

Abstract: Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) is Microsoft's new platform for building graphical user interfaces on Windows. To date, most of the attention WPF has received has focused on its ability to build visually spectacular applications, but while this makes for impressive demos, it ignores some of the most compelling aspects of the framework. Although less glamorous than graphics, features such as data binding and templates, command routing, and layout make WPF a comprehensively useful platform for building client-side applications. In this talk we will explore some less-examined aspects of WPF that are arguably its most interesting features - features that make WPF useful whether you need impressive visuals or not.
