Dataflow computing is making substatial gains in the HPC realm where performance, or performance per watt, are paramount. As heterogeneous accelerator based supercomputers and custom high-speed execution engines become the norm, this talk reveals some insights into the capabilities of dataflow computing, and the techniques and pitfalls of deploying massively accelerated applications on heterogeneous systems.

James Spooner

Biography: James Spooner

James Spooner, VP of Acceleration at Maxeler Technologies, is responsible for project delivery with Maxeler's acceleration customers. Working predominantly in Oil & Gas and Finance, James and his team deliver solutions in seismic modelling, data processing, fixed-income analytics and trading platforms. Before Maxeler, James was a technologist at Endace, a network measurement company. He worked on technical product development and definition for 10Gbit+ networks and delivered solutions to customers across the US, Europe and Asia. James holds an honours degree in computing from The University of Waikato in New Zealand.
