- Leave aside the discussion about the linguistical correctness of the term "data science" and accept that there's a new trade that is less about traditional science (e.g. experimentation and hypotheses) and more about predictive analysis with the goal to influence our behaviour in the real world. Data science is all about gathering and combining data, trying to understand it and then do something useful with it, either by communicating it or by actually using it as input to actively modify the world.
This track is about the people and organisations that have been successful in extracting value from the data they have gathered and are using it to their (and hopefully our) good!
